We are blessed by the football Gods this season and not only have a lighter OOC sched, but we start out with a very winnable game @ home.

Agreed.... 6 home games is a nice plus too.  I just got my season tix in the mail this week so I am fired up about making the trek to Muncie 6 times (at least) this season.

Of course, should the Cards have any kind of a repeat of last season (which I'm not expecting), once again we will hear the same tired song of "you don't play anyone".  The road game at Auburn is a critical game for the Cards when you're talking about gaining respect nationally.  There isn't another game on the schedule that will make anyone stand up and take notice.  A win at Auburn is a must if the Cards are to garner ANY attention this season.

We have a serious running attack that will take some of the fight out of their physical defense.

They were not subject to a running game in last years game and thats why it was close in the third quarter. On top of that our defense has much more speed and has improved its tackling by a mile.

They will come out snorting but our kids saw that at IU and executed like the Champions they truly are.

Cards 44

Hilltops 17

Nice season so far.  To bad about Love.  Good luck with the rest of the season and the Top 25.  I heard W.Kentucky was playing a little dirty in the scrum at VT...  Take it to them

Ball State is one of the most dangerous teams in the powerfull  MAC West. They return every single starter including all the offensive lineman which are led by Senior standout Robert Brewster ( Outland Trophy Candidate). Dan Gerberry is also a noteworthy leader at the center position.

The addition of multiple players at the tailback position will only enhance an already lethal passing attack led by Junior (MAxwell Candidate) Nate Davis. Davis threw 30 touchdowns last season as a sophomore with only 6 interceptions. Darius Hill (Mackey Award Candidate) and Dante Love have National respect at Tight End and Wide reciever.

The defense will be better up front  yet still not an iomposing group. The stars of the tackling bodies are Brian Haynes at Linebacker and a 32 year old ex-Marine at the the D end position in Brandon Crawford. BJ Hill leads the secondary while anotgher  potent defender comes in the form of an All American Punter. The special teams will need to improve as well.

All in all.. this team, the 84 th to take the field for Ball State University, has the makeup to  do something very special. A bowl game is a must and a win over in state and BCS team IU, would be a big accomplishment for this unit. The Sept 5th ESPN game vs Navy will be a huge oppurtunity for the Cardinals to showcase their firepower and grab the attention of the college football nation.
